Why Ropers Wash Their Pads Here

Our front-load Dexter machines are the safest way to wash saddle pads at a laundromat. No agitator, cold water option, and the closest laundromat to Wickenburg's top arenas.

Front-Load = No Agitator

Our Dexter front-load washers tumble your pad gently — no center agitator to twist, stretch, or tear your equipment.

Cold Water Option

Cold water preserves pad integrity, prevents shrinkage, and protects fleece, wool, and synthetic materials from heat damage.

How to Wash a Saddle Pad at a Laundromat

  1. 1

Shake off loose dirt and hair

Take your pad outside and shake or brush off loose dirt, arena dust, and horse hair before loading it in the washer.

  2. 2

    Use a front-load washer (6-load or 8-load)

Our Dexter front-load washers have no agitator, so your pad tumbles gently. Use the 6-load for 1-2 pads or the 8-load for 3-4.

  3. 3

Select cold water with mild detergent

Always use cold water to prevent shrinking. Use a mild, fragrance-free detergent — less is more. Never use fabric softener.

  4. 4

Dry on low heat or air dry

Use our dryers on low heat to speed up drying, or lay the pad flat to air dry. High heat can damage padding and cause shrinkage.

  5. 5

Never use hot water or fabric softener

Hot water shrinks pads and breaks down fibers. Fabric softener leaves a residue that reduces the pad's moisture-wicking ability and can irritate your horse's skin.

Saddle Pad Cleaning Questions

Can I wash saddle pads at your laundromat?+
Yes! Our front-load Dexter washers are perfect for saddle pads. The front-load design has no agitator, so your pads tumble gently without getting damaged. Use cold water and mild detergent for best results.
What water temperature should I use for saddle pads?+
Always use cold water for saddle pads. Hot water can shrink the pad, damage the fleece or wool, and break down adhesives. Our machines have a cold water option — just select it before starting your cycle.
Will the washer damage my saddle pad?+
No. Our Dexter front-load washers have no center agitator, so your saddle pad tumbles freely without being twisted, stretched, or torn. This is the same gentle action used by professional equine laundry services.
Can I wash multiple saddle pads at once?+
Yes! Our 8-load and 6-load washers can handle multiple saddle pads at once. For best results, don't overload — leave room for the pads to move freely. Our 8-load washers are great for washing 3-4 standard saddle pads together.
Do you wash horse blankets?+
No, we do not wash horse blankets as they can clog our machines with excessive hair and debris. However, saddle pads, saddle blankets, and Navajo blankets are welcome — just shake off loose dirt and hair before loading.
What about saddle blankets and Navajo blankets?+
Saddle blankets and Navajo-style blankets can be washed in our machines. Use cold water, mild detergent, and the gentle cycle. For valuable Navajo blankets, we recommend hand washing, but everyday saddle blankets do fine in our front-load washers.
How much does it cost to wash saddle pads?+
Use any of our self-service machines — just load your pads, add coins or pay with the DexterPay app, and select cold water. Our 6-load washers are the most popular choice for saddle pads. We're open 24 hours so you can wash between jackpots.
What hours can I wash saddle pads?+
Self-service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Wash your saddle pads before or after roping — even at 5am before an early jackpot. We're just 5 minutes from Rancho Rio Arena.
